Product Spotlight - New Balance Q2 2022 Part 2

Cupsole enthusiasts rejoice, New Balance have come through with some premium new foot protectors to prolong your shredding. The drop sees the return of some of New Balance's most popular skate shoes, including the 288S and 400, with some delicious new colourways to suit any occasion.

The personal shoe of choice for both me and the gaffer from New Balance's range, the New Balance 288 Sport, has been blessed with a sleek new colour option that's perfect for the summer months. If you're a fan of clean, minimalist aesthetics then you're in luck. The latest model of the 288S features a sleek all-white upper with a contrasting black outline on the New Balance 'N' logo, as well as some other tasteful black highlights. This colourway wouldn't look out of place on Grand Designs. I'm pretty sure it's been long enough now that people can wear white shoes again without someone shouting 'Damn, Daniel!', right?

The 288S is one of the slimmest cupsoles New Balance offer, providing premium boardfeel coupled with the C-Cap midsole which offers maximum comfort and impact protection. The internal mesh bootie provides the optimal fit and also means the shoe can act as a slip-on when your laces rip. If your feet are getting sore from skating in vulcs, these bad boys are the perfect introduction to cupsole shoes offering the optimal balance of boardfeel and cushioning.

Next up, the ever-popular 440 makes its triumphant return with a new colourway in the high-top model. The colourway is another stylish minimalist offering, featuring an all-black upper and rubber bumper with contrasting white stitching, white laces and a white outsole for a simple but effective aesthetic.

Much like the 288S, the 440 features a relatively supple cupsole construction which provides superior support and impact protection while also maximising boardfeel. The NDurance rubber outsole and triple-stitched toe panel help to maximise durability, while the suede and mesh upper offers optimal breathability making the 440 the perfect summer skate shoe.

Last but not least, the New Balance Brandon Westgate 508 is back with two fresh new colour options. Whether you're looking for an unconventional colourway to stand out from the crowd or you want to stick to a tried and tested classic, New Balance have got you covered. The Westgate 508 in Black / White features a sleek black upper with a white New Balance logo, white laces, and white highlights, which are then paired perfectly with a gum sole for a truly timeless aesthetic. If it ain't broke don't fix it. However, if you're looking for a bit of extra spice, the Westgate 508 Tan / Orange may be the one for you. The shoe features a full tan upper with a tan sole and a vibrant orange 'N' logo for a nice bit of contrast.

The New Balance Westgate 508 features a sleek construction with minimal exposed stitching to prevent blowouts and maximise durability. Couple this with the dual-layer toe box and you've got one durable shoe. As to be expected, the cupsole construction provides some solid impact protection and support, making this shoe perfect for taking Brandon Westgate-sized impact.
