If there's one thing you should know about Pontus by now it's that the man doesn't do anything by halves. It should come as no surprise then that the latest collection of Polar decks for summer 2023 is packed with more bangers than most brands release in a whole year, with a wide range of bangin' new pro boards in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Polar Skateboard Decks
As always, Polar have recruited the help of some seriously talented artists to provide visual stimulation for their latest run of decks, including triple-OG Jacob Ovgren, the mysterious AMTK, and even a DIY graphic by Paul Grund. There's a reason Polar are one of the most popular skate brands in the game: they just never miss when it comes to their aesthetics.
When it comes to Polar, it doesn't get more iconic than a Jacob Ovgren graphic and the main man has delivered the goods for this latest drop, coming through with his signature brand of brightly-coloured yet darkly-themed illustrations for two of Polar's finest: Oski Rozenberg and Hjalte Halberg. While Oski's 'The Mask' deck features a surreal mix of imagery, including a snake, a frog and some creepy masks, Hjalte's 'Can Food' has a far more stripped back graphic with a yellow woodstain and a man lying dead after overdosing on pills. Pretty classic Ovgren.
Some of the decks also feature artwork by a collective known as AMTK. It turns out, this mysterious entity is actually a collaboration between Andrew Mazorol and Tynan Kerr who combine their disparate styles to produce striking graphics characterised by muted tones and uncanny characters. You'll probably recognise Tynan's work from some of Polar's previous decks but his collaboration with Andrew has taken the designs to a new level. AMTK have come through with three stellar graphics for some of Polar's most stylish heads, including Shin Sanbongi, Aaron Herrington and Dane Brady. Big fans of the Shin graphic, in particular!
Not all the artwork's been outsourced, mind. The drop also features some in-house graphics for Nick Boserio, who's paid tribute to his daughter with his 'Run Cleo' deck, Roman Gonzales with his saucy 'Dancing Lady' deck, and Jamie Platt with his digital-based 'Painting From School' graphic. Last but certainly not least, multi-talented mega-lej, Paul Grund, has branched out from his usual photography-based graphics and showed his artistic talent with his spooky 'Skulls' graphic.
But don't worry if you're not a popsicle-enjoyer, we also grabbed some new Polar shaped decks in case you're after something a bit different. Both the Paul Grund 'Skulls' deck and the Oskar Rozenberg 'The Mask' deck come in Polar's signature P9 shape with it's rounded nose and square tail making it the perfect choice for anyone looking for a shaped deck that still holds its own in the streets.
Polar Skate Wax
It's not just decks though, Polar have also expanded into the wax game with their somewhat threatening new 'Use Wisely or Skate Faster' wax, allowing you to experience the feeling of being chastised by an old head every time you go to wax the ledge. This hefty block of wax comes in an ergonomic hockey puck shape with an engraved Polar logo on the top and 'Use Wisely or Skate Faster' round the edge. Not gonna lie, this stuff looks absolutely delicious with a lovely selection of pastel colours to choose from including Mint, Graphite, Soft Pink or Light Blue. However despite the appetising aesthetic we probably wouldn't recommend taking a bite of one.
That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse the full range of Polar Skate Co skateboard decks and clothing and buy now from CSC. Or, find out more about the latest skate product on the CSC Blog. Safe.
