Product Spotlight - Polar Spring '22 Decks
Feast your eyes on the latest decks from Polar Skate Co with all new artist collabs and some reimagined classics.
As always, Polar have turned to countless different artists for their latest series of decks, including Tynan Kerr, tattoo artist, Ryan Mettz, and Polar OG, Jacob Ovgren. The series is as vibrant as ever with a wide range of designs that can suit any situation, from the bold and colourful style of Ovgren to Roman Gonzalez' dark and slightly disturbing 'Puppet Storage' photo graphic. Everyone knows Polar always come through with the bangers.
First up, Jacob Ovgren has come through with another instant classic for Dane Brady. The 'Trash Can' graphic features a trashcan in Ovgren's signature cartoon style, stuffed with all sorts of discarded household items, with Dane Brady's name spray painted on the wall behind it. Fairly simple compared to some of his previous graphics - and much less dark than what he used to be known for - but a banger none the less.
As usual, the Polar 'Dane Brady Trash Can' deck comes in two different shapes: a classic 8.25" popsicle shape, and Dane's signature 'Dane 1' shape which features an old-school squared-off fish tail and more pointed nose, coming in at a whopping 9.75" at its widest. The Dane 1 shape is a certified curb skating essential, approved by the man himself.
Another returning artist, Tynan Kerr supplied the artwork for Aaron Herrington's 'Serenade' deck. The deck features a white nose and tail with Tynan Kerr's artwork in the center of the deck. Featuring Kerr's distinctly surreal style and cool blue tones, the graphic depicts a woman being serenaded in the middle of a street, hence the name 'Serenade'. Pretty romantic stuff.
The drop also features artwork from New York-based tattoo artist and skate photographer, Ryan Mettz (who you may recognise from shooting a load of the Limosine boys), for Oski's 'World Domination' deck. You may remember the graphic from the 'World Domination' T-shirts and hoodies from one of their recent clothing drops, and the graphic has now been readapted for Oskar Rozenberg's pro model with the addition of Oski's name on the world. This graphic was really popular first time round, and obviously it's way better now it's got Oski's name on it. It's also got wheel wells so you don't have to worry about getting wheelbite.
Finally, Roman Gonzalez's latest pro deck features a really personal graphic to him. According to Roman, his father was a puppeteer so their apartment was constantly filled with puppets, which his father insisted couldn't be put away out of respect for them. So it actually makes sense that this graphic features a load of sinister looking puppets. Not entirely sure if the pictures are actually from Roman's childhood apartment, but the top graphic features a picture of Roman and his dad which is a nice personal touch. You'll be forgiven if puppets creep you out though.
Alongside all the new decks, the drop also features a bunch of new custom Jessup griptape with some classic Polar designs. The 'Kissing Heads' grip has been reissued in a new red and blue colourway, alongside the return of the 'Doodle Face' grip in yellow and blue. A new one for the collection, however, is the 'Cactus Dance' which features a naked lady dancing in front of a cactus, which is a pretty trendy Instagram #Aesthetic.
That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse the full range of Polar skateboard decks and clothing, and buy now from CSC. Or, find out more about the latest skate product on the CSC Blog. Safe.
