Village PM

Village PM is a new Europe-based skate shoe brand founded by life-long skaters, Basile Lapray and Bram De Cleen. After working for outdoor brands like Arc’Teryx and Salomon, the pair decided they wanted to take some of that innovation into skateboarding. Working alongside fellow shoe guru, Julien Traverse - founder of the creative agency, All Triangles, and certified legend in the outdoor footwear game - Bram and Basile have utilised their combined experience and expertise to create a range of skate shoes unlike any that have come before.

Taking inspiration from rock climbing shoes, Village PM skate shoes feature a load of unique design choices that are definitely NBDs when it comes to skating. Most notably, they’ve opted to use climbing rubber, rather than the rubber you’d typically find in skate shoes, due to its soft and sticky nature providing next-level grip and sensitivity. This rubber wraps around the shoe to form a protective toe-cap for long-lasting durability and can even be replaced by a cobbler once it’s worn through, meaning they’re pretty much indestructible.

Another interesting feature of the shoes is their asymmetrical shape which helps better fit the natural shape of your feet for a more comfortable and precise fit. Not only this but the shape also allows for more precise foot placements while channeling more power through your big toe to help you really dig into the pocket when popping or scooping tricks. This is also backed up by their extended lacing system which runs all the way down to the toe-cap to help you further dial in the perfect fit.

So far, their range currently consists of two different models: the Village PM 1PM skate shoe and the Village PM 1:30PM skate shoe. The main difference between the two is that the 1PM is the true embodiment of their vision, with a full climbing rubber rand wrapping around the whole shoe and the additional of heel pull loops for the authentic climbing shoe experience. Meanwhile, the 1:30PM is essentially a toned-down version of this with slightly less rubber around the shoe for a more classic, vulc-esque look and feel that you may find more familiar.
