No, CSC isn't turning into a coffee shop (there's no way we'd ever be able to compete with Jesus in Bacareto anyway). However, we are branching out a bit and bringing you something that you can't wear or kickflip. Crazy, I know. We're all big coffee drinkers here, and we were stoked to hear about an independent, skater-owned coffee company out of Cardiff. So, we thought it made sense to spread the love to all you lovely lot. Have a read below to find out more about Caffeine and Krooks.

What the F is a Caffeine and Krooks?

As we've already mentioned, Caffeine and Krooks pride themselves on being 100% independent and skater owned. The brand is run by a life-long Cardiff skater with over 20 years in the hospitality industry. Having spent years drinking countless cups of coffee in various skateparks and coffee shops, they decided to go it alone and start the very first skater-owned coffee brand. No, Skateboard Cafe doesn't count.

Their expertly tailor their unique small batch coffee to provide a smooth, natural taste and a clean hit of energy. Perfect for hyping you up to hit up some spots, or just push through the daily grind. With an emphasis on keeping things local, Manumit Coffee Roasters roast the beans right here in Cardiff. Roasted to medium/dark they provide maximum caramelisation without the bitterness. The result is a smooth and full-bodied flavour that works perfectly for any style of coffee.

Spilling The Beans

It's no secret that some of the big coffee manufacturers, and the coffee industry in general, can be pretty sketchy in their operations. But don't worry, now you can grab yourself some premium coffee without all the horrible stuff. You'll also be supporting a skater-owned business at the same time. It's a win-win.

Caffeine and Krooks pride themselves on providing single origin, specialty coffee that they specifically source and test to fit their rigorous standards. This basically means it's gonna be way better than anything you can get off a supermarket shelf. What's more, Manumit Coffee Roasters train and employ survivors of modern slavery to help take a stand against exploitation in the coffee industry. Working with their partners, Caffeine and Krooks do rigorous research into their suppliers, aiming to build relationships with the farmers. As a result, all their coffee is entirely ethically-sourced.

Caffeine and Krooks Whole Bean Skater-Owned Sustainable Coffee - CSC, Cardiff Skateboard Club - UK Skate Store

Their House Roast Coffee is available as either whole beans, or ground to a medium consistency to suit all styles of coffee making. They've got you covered whether you're an old-school cafetière loyalist or a new-fangled coffee machine lover who'd rather get a robot to do the heavy lifting. Boasting flavour notes of dark chocolate, brazil nuts, and toffee, the beans originate from the family-run and Rainforest Alliance Certified Fazenda São Lucas farm in Brazil. Run by the sixth generation of coffee growers, São Lucas pride themselves on their carefully hand-picked beans. They even use natural fertilisers, which they produce using their own cattle, making the coffee sustainable as well as delicious.

That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to get your hands on some premium coffee courtesy of Caffeine and Krooks. Or, check out more of our newest brands on the CSC Blog. Safe.
