Backed by one of the most beloved pros in the game, Lurpiv Trucks combine the finest engineering techniques and materials with that Swedish innovation and attention-to-detail to come through with an all-new truck design that more than lives up to the hype.
It's not every day you see someone try to break into the highly competitive skateboard trucks market, and it's even rarer to see a brand actually try to do something different, so we're super excited to finally get our hands on some Lurpiv Trucks. History of Lurpiv
Originally founded by Polar Skate Co mega-lej, Oskar Rozenberg, back in 2021, Lurpiv aimed to shake up the skateboard truck oligopoly by incorporating that premium Swedish innovation and technology. Made in Sweden utilising the finest materials and construction methods and featuring a radical design claiming to ensure a smooth turn while eliminating wheelbite, the hype quickly built up around Lurpiv's trucks with skaters all over the world eager to see what the fuss was about.
Setting themselves apart from other truck brands, Lurpiv Trucks featured a unique, retro look with a T-shaped hanger, reminiscent of the old Independent Stage 1 trucks. On the technical side of things, Lurpiv utilised an inverted kingpin design for the lowest possible profile, a solid aluminium body made using the aerospace Rheocasting process for maximum strength and minimal weight as well as a new two axle system to ensure better grinds, turning and longer-lasting durability while reducing the weight even further.
However, despite all the excitement it turned out that breaking into the highly competitive skateboard truck market wasn't an easy thing to do (who would've guessed?) and things quickly went south for Lurpiv as high production costs and some quality control issues lead to the brand having to go back to the drawing board. Luckily for us though, Oski ain't no quitter and they've switched some things up to come back stronger than ever with a fresh batch of trucks and clothing!
Lurpiv Trucks
Back and better than ever with their debut Spring/Summer collection, Lurpiv might have changed things up a bit since their first drop but they're still bringing that next-level engineering and Swedish attention-to-detail with the same iconic look. Although they've relocated the manufacturing outside of Sweden to help keep costs down, they've maintained that same level of quality using only the finest grade steel and aluminium alloys with a T6-treated hanger and baseplate for a lightweight construction, smooth grind and long-lasting durability.
In response to some of the issues they faced first time around, Lurpiv have ditched the inverted kingpin in favour of a classic construction while still keeping the built-in anti-wheelbite technology to help keep you rolling. Likewise they've also moved away from the two axle system, instead opting for one full-length steel axle throughout to help improve durability. Last but not least, they've also switched out the bushings to a harder 92A durometer for more responsive turning as well as adding in a built-in hanger spacer to reduce friction with the bearings for a smoother ride.
For their highly-anticipated relaunch, Lurpiv have come through with two distinct models of truck to suit any set-up with a Solid and Hollow version. As the names suggest, the Lurpiv Solid Trucks feature a solid steel axle for a slightly cheaper option while the Lurpiv Hollow Trucks feature a hollow steel axle for a more lightweight feel while still maintaining the same smooth grind and long-lasting durability. Seeing as trucks are a pretty significant investment and last a long time, we always recommend splashing out on the hollows as it's worth it in the long run, unless you prefer the feel of a weightier set-up. Buy nice or buy twice as they say.
Available in a range of sizes, we've got both the Lurpiv Solid Trucks and Lurpiv Hollow Trucks in 140mm, 145mm and 150mm hanger widths - which of course is yet another different measurement system to wrap your head around. If you're wondering what size trucks you'll need for your deck, the Lurpiv 140mm Trucks fit decks from 7.75" - 8.25"; the Lurpiv 145mm Trucks fit decks from 8.25" - 8.5"; the Lurpiv 150mm Trucks fit decks from 8.5" - 8.75"; and the Lurpiv 160mm Trucks fit decks from 8.75" - 9" and up. Lurpiv T-shirts
Obviously the trucks are the main event but Lurpiv have also come through with a strong selection of T-shirts so that you can rep your new favourite truck brand loud and proud. Given Oski's long-time association with Polar Skate Co and the brand's mastermind, Pontus Alv, coupled with Sweden's general tendency towards tastefulness, it should come as no surprise that the new Lurpiv T-shirts feature some particularly eye-pleasing visuals.
First up, sticking with the Minions-esque factory worker theme from their promo videos, the new Lurpiv 'Satellite' T-shirt features a central chest print featuring the brand's iconic boiler suit-sporting mascots rigging up a satellite in front of a brooding sunset backdrop. Available in two bangin' colourways, we've got the 'Satellite' Tee in a classic White or a stylish Brown.
Alternatively, the drop also features two incredible new designs from artist David Hermansson with the futuristic Lurpiv 'Sci-Fi Hanger' T-shirt in Black or White, featuring a central chest print of a Lurpiv space ship soaring through a city, alongside the more traditional Lurpiv 'Carousel' T-shirt in White, which features a Lurpiv logo on the chest and the colourful Carousel graphic on the back.
