Bones Bearings come in a few different configurations, with differing price points depending on the construction and features. For most skaters, Bones Reds are all you will ever need, but if you have a little extra cash burning a hole in your pocket it's hard not to get tempted by the sweet, smooth-rolling precision of Swiss Ceramics!
Bones Reds: The OG. The basic Bones Reds are a classic skateboard bearing and are known for their durability and reliability. They feature a single non-contact removable rubber shield and high-speed nylon ball retainer. They are also pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant for maximum performance. These bearings are pro quality and good enough for anyone, no matter your skill level. Absolutely top class bearings with no faults!
Bones Big Balls Reds: These are the same as the basic Bones Reds but with BIGGER BALLS! 6 balls instead or 7 makes these bearings feel faster and less likely to clog up with fine dust and grit. For years we have been telling our customer just to go with the standard Reds, but since Big Balls came along we've been conflicted! Most of the shop staff ride Big Balls...make of that what you will.
Bones Super Reds: The Super Reds are basically just a slightly more durable and longer-lasting version of the basic reds. Designed for high-performance skating and featuring higher-grade steel than the basic version, they also feature a precision ground and honed inner race, a high-speed nylon ball retainer, and a removable non-contact rubber shield. They are pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant, making them extremely fast and smooth. If you don't mind paying the extra or feel you need a stronger bearing, these are perfect!
Bones Swiss: Alright man, now we're on some serious performance kit. In theory, these bearings could last you your whole life. You can pull them apart and service them, and they are manufactured to very fine tolerances with exceptionally high quality materials. The Bones Swiss bearings are designed for high-speed and precision skating. They feature a precision ground and polished steel races, high-speed Swiss bearings, and a removable non-contact rubber shield. They are also pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant and are known for their long-lasting durability.
Bones Ceramic Super Reds: Ceramics! Controversial, but kind of awesome. I ran some cheap ceramic bearings for a while and enjoyed lubricating them with water, or beer, or whatever I had to hand. These things roll super fast and last a long time! The Ceramic Super Reds are designed for high-performance skating and feature ceramic balls for maximum speed and acceleration. They also have a precision ground and honed inner race, high-speed nylon ball retainer, and a removable non-contact rubber shield. They are pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant and are known for their high-performance and durability.
Bones 'Super Swiss 6 Ball': Ok...honesty time. These are probably the best bearings you can buy from Bones. I absolutely love these things, they are fast, they run super smooth, they are serviceable, and they are a bit cheaper than Ceramics. 6 bigger balls with all the features of the standard Bones Swiss make these a seriously awesome bearing that is good for every type of skateboarding. Just remember that you have them when you buy your next set of wheels! Don't leave them in and give them away like I did.
Bones Swiss Ceramics: Right here we go. The big dogs. The Swiss Ceramics are the top-of-the-line Bones Bearings and are designed for the highest level of skating. But lets be real here...nobody needs these. Yes we said it, and no doubt someone will disagree, but these are a lot. They're actually too much. They feature ceramic balls for maximum speed and acceleration, precision ground and polished steel races, high-speed Swiss bearings, and a removable non-contact rubber shield. They are pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant and are known for their unmatched performance and durability. Unmatched performance and durability that you will never need...but if you want the best...
