Product Spotlight - Sour Summer 2022
The Sour Solution are back and they're carrying on their tradition of incredible graphics with a bunch of film-related decks as well as some amazing new pro models for Vincent Huhta and Martin Sandberg.
Hot off the back of their latest video, 'Sour Solution 3', we've got some new decks and accessories from the Sour boys that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. The drop features all the bizarre graphics you expect from Sour Solution with pro decks for all your favourites like Tom Snape, Barney Page, and Nisse Ingemarsson, as well as all new pro models for Vincent Huhta and Martin Sandberg who turned pro after the Sour Solution III premiered.
Vincent Huhta's debut pro board is easily one of our favourites from the collection, mainly due to the fact that the graphic perfectly captures Vincent skating. The Sour Vincent Huhta Shaker deck features one of those weird inflatable dancing tube men you get outside used car dealerships, and if that isn't the description of Vincent's skating then I dunno what is. Of course the tube man also features Vincent's signature curly locks just in case you couldn't already tell it's him.
The second new Sour pro, Martin Sandberg, has an extremely Swedish pro deck. The Sour Martin Sandberg 'Karlsson' deck features an image of the titular character from the Swedish children's film, 'Världens bästa Karlsson', which is basically about some kid who becomes friends with a weird little man who grows a propeller out his back when he presses a button on his stomach. Pretty bizarre but I'm into it.
Another movie themed skateboard deck from the collection, Barney Page gets the Forrest Gump treatment in his new graphic. The Sour Barney Page Gump skateboard deck features an image of a dishevelled Forrest Gump pushing down a country road on a skateboard, much like Barney did on his cross country skate from John O'Groats to Land's End. They even added Barney's name in the style of the 'Forrest Gump' poster for a nice bit of extra detail. Big fan of the woodstain on this one too.
One of the few graphics that isn't movie related, Tom Snape's 'Russian Drinks' deck has some sick historical context that's guaranteed to appeal to fans of retro Soviet visuals. The graphic features an image of a man walking with his arm around an anthropomorphised bottle of booze which was originally used in an anti-alcohol Soviet propaganda poster, first posted in Ukraine in 1981. The graphic seems pretty suited to Snape, as anyone who's read an interview with him will probably be aware that he can be a troublesome drunk, but then who isn't? Big fan of the Soviet propaganda visuals either way, they've been pretty popular online in recent years so it's nice seeing it on a skateboard.
Last but not least, we've also got new pro models for Daniel Spangs and Nisse Ingemarsson. Nisse has another film-based graphic, with the deck featuring an image from the poster of Joseph Brenner's remake of the 1974 film, 'Almost Human', although they've given it their own twist to the image by adding some sort of weird face mask. Daniel Spangs is another of the boys who doesn't have a movie themed graphic - at least not to the best of my knowledge - instead he just has a picture of some butter. I mean you can't really beat a bit of butter.
The drop also features some premium accessories to help you keep living your best life all summer long. The Sour Lady Lux water bottle is a bangin' portable water bottle that comes with a screw top and carabiner so you can easily take it out on the session with you to make sure you stay hydrated. The graphic features an old school, cocktail girl pin-up sat in the iconic Sour hourglass logo for a nice blend of classical and modern imagery.
Finally, the Sour Bass bucket hat is possibly one of the best things out of the whole drop, coming through with serious fishing vibes that we're proper hyped on. Pretty sure this retro fishing aesthetic is gonna be the next big trend in skating - we've already had Daan Van Der Linden's fly-fishing themed pro shoes - so you might as well get on it early to beat the crowds. Whether you're lounging by a river waiting for a bite or sat at the spot while your homie gets a clip, you know you need this bucket hat in your life.
