Last Resort VM003 Suede
The wait is up. VM003 fans rejoice, as Pontus has blessed us all with an all-new suede version of Last Resort's newest model. If you’ve been eyeing up the VM003 but you weren’t sure on the canvas, then now’s the time to give it a go, and with three tasteful new colourways - Black, Cheddar, and Olive - Last Resort have got you covered no matter your style.
As with all Last Resort skate shoes, the VM003 features simplicity at its core. The suede upper is devoid of any logos - with the only Last Resort branding on the shoe appearing as subtle logos on the heel and tongue - making Last Resort shoes the ultimate skater-owned alternative to being a walking advert for dastardly large corporations.
However, due to the design of the toe box, the VM003 does have more exposed seams than the seamless one-piece toe box of the VM001. This may slightly reduce the VM003's durability in comparison, although the stitching is kept towards the front of the toe which helps reduce potential wear from ollieing. Of course the shoe’s durability is also drastically improved by the suede upper which is guaranteed to outlast the already surprisingly durable canvas version.
Keeping with the theme of simplicity, the VM003 features a vulcanised sole in the same style as all of Last Resort’s other available offerings - although Pontus has recently teased the creation of a new Last Resort cupsole shoe which we're pretty hyped for. The VM003’s vulcanised construction provides the shoe with the unparalleled boardfeel that you expect from a Last Resort shoe, making these the shoe of choice for low impact street skaters around the world.
Last Resort have also recently slimmed down their insoles slightly and changed the glue used to stick them in. This means they should be easier to remove if you’d rather swap them out for the insole of your choice, however the standard insoles still provide surprisingly good cushioning considering their minimalist nature. Either way, if you're looking to chuck yourself down 20 stairs, these may not be the shoes for you (maybe try the New Balance Tiago 1010s instead), but the option of adding in your own insole for extra comfort is a welcome bonus.
Last Resort VM001
Alongside this new variant of the VM003, Last Resort have also come through with some fresh new options for the ever-popular VM001. I'm particularly hyped on this drop as they've brought back one of my all-time favourite colourways: White / Black. The shoe provides a nice contrast to the abundance of Black / White shoes while still maintaining a sleek, minimal, monochromatic aesthetic. This is peak Last Resort.
On the other end of the spectrum, Last Resort have temporarily abandoned their love of clean and simple aesthetics in favour of the wonderfully garish and decadent. Taking a leaf out of Jason Dill's book, Pontus has thrown caution to the wind and blessed (or cursed?) the world with faux-crocodile skin skate shoes. The shoes feature a brown leather upper which is both coloured and textured to mimic the look and feel of crocodile skin, which obviously looks sick but also packs the added durability you expect from leather. If you're looking to raise eyebrows this summer, I don't think you can really top these bad boys.
Last Resort Clothing
The drop also features some bangin' new tees with a load of textbook Last Resort graphics. Both tees feature the classic minimal 'Last Resort AB' text logo on the chest alongside a large back print, both of which feature the iconic Last Resort eyes logo in various Earth-themed designs.
That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse the full range of Last Resort skate shoes. Or, find out more about our latest product on the CSC Blog. Safe.
