Your favourite skater's favourite skate mag is back and better than ever with their first issue of 2025 and as always it comes packing over 100 glossy pages of premium skate nerdery with a fresh selection of interview, articles, photos and more from some of the best in the business. By this point, you should all know what to expect from Jaime Owens' latest brainchild but Closer Skateboard Magazine Issue 9 manages to build on their winning formula with an absolutely ludicrous cover and some of their finest features yet. Find out more below!

First things first, we've got to talk about the cover, which sees Donovon Piscopo putting his life on the line with a hectic second-storey nosegrind pop-out, shot by Anthony Acosta, that's guaranteed to get those palms sweating. Nosegrinds are terrifying enough on a knee-high flatbar never mind when you're staring down the barrel of a five metre drop so Donovon's crazy for this one! In typical Closer fashion, they've also treated us to an equally bangin' - but much lower impact - back cover as triple OGs John Lucero and Lance Mountain hit a tag-team slappy, shot by Jaime Owens himself.

Inside the mag, Closer Skate Mag Issue 9 keeps up the cover's ludicrously high standard with a load of top-quality articles and features from a load of all-time greats. We've got Richard 'Benny' Hughes of Curb Cuttings fame (whose work you may recognise from the cover of Closer Issue 5) chatting about some of his influences and Birmingham's legendary metal scene; a deep-dive in Boston's iconic Metals spot; Rick McCrank offering up an insight into his daily life; a mini-interview with cover boy, Donovon Piscopo; and an in-depth interview with photographer, Norma Ibarra, courtesy of Farran Golding.

As always, these exciting new features are also backed up by all the usual suspects doing their thing. First up, Clyde Singleton kicks things off, dropping his usual tongue-in-cheek tone for an refreshingly deep discussion of 'Why Representation Matters'. Likewise, Eric Swisher is back with a fresh Chromeball Incident interview, this time hosting a roundtable with some of skateboarding's most legendary team managers - including Mike Sinclair, Sam Smyth and Brennan Conroy - which he himself reckons could be one of his best yet. Plus, of course there's also a whole load of pretty pictures from all your favourite photographers to give your brain a break from all that reading.

That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse the full range of Closer skateboard magazines and buy now from CSC. Or, find out more about the latest skate product on the CSC Blog. Safe.
