For Issue 5, Closer Skateboarding Magazine has ditched the traditional photographic cover in favour of a more multi-media approach, with a bangin' hand-cut paper collage of Rick Howard by Benny Hughes of The Curb Cuttings Project. This eye-catching cover features photos and graphics both old and new, including a contemporary pivot fakie shot by Closer's head honcho, Jaime Owens, alongside some old graphics, magazine snippets and a shot of a young Rick alongside partner in crime, Mike Carroll. We shouldn't have to tell you that Closer ain't your average skateboard magazine; this unique cover speaks for itself.

Inside the pristine cover, the intrepid reader be rewarded with a wealth of interviews, features and articles from some of the finest wordsmiths in skateboarding, including a new 18-page Chromeball interview with cover guy, Rick Howard, which features a special introduction by fellow legend, Brian Anderson, alongside classic photos by Spike Jonze, Ben Colen, Lance Mountain and more; an interview with the chieftain of cellar doors, Dick Rizzo; Clyde Singleton discussing his favourite shoes; more vintage skateboards courtesy of Chris rice; Mason Silva's soundtracks and so much more.
