Another incredible addition to the ever-growing library of skateboard literature, we're very excited to be stocking the new 'Elsewhere' Book by prolific skate nerd, Neil MacDonald, which undertakes the Herculean task of making sense of Britain's storied skate history. Comparable in scope to the Icelandic Edda or China's Shi Ji, 'Elsewhere' is without a doubt one of the most comprehensive chronicles of skateboarding history that the UK, if not the world, has ever seen. Have a read below to find out more about just what it entails!

If you're unfamiliar with the name Neil MacDonald, you may instead know him by his Instagram alias, @scienceversuslife, where he's long been celebrating skateboarding's illustrious history by unearthing archival photography from days gone by. Now, after countless years of solid graft and over 800,000 words worth of interviews, Neil has finally transcended the digital realm by encapsulating 15 years of British skateboard lore into his 400-page compendium: 'Elsewhere'.

Covering the period from 1987 to 2002, in which British skateboarding underwent a major identity shift, 'Elsewhere' offers up a comprehensive chronology of this pivotal era by bringing together a wealth of skate photography, historical artefacts and all-new interviews. Having spent hundreds of hours interrogating some of the UK's biggest legends, including Tom Penny, Dan Magee, Geoff Rowley and many, many more, Neil tells the story of British skateboarding through the people, places and brands which helped define the era.

This isn't merely a collection of photos and interviews, this is years of painstaking research and passion lovingly sculpted into a digestible narrative chronicling the birth and growth of the scene that we all know and love, offering up deep dives into cultural landmarks such as Radlands, Unabomber, Blueprint, Slam City Skates and countless others. Not only does 'Elsewhere' detail the history of this period but it also explores the lasting influence British skateboarding has had on other forms of culture, including art, fashion, film, photography, media and more, making this just as relevant for newer generations as it is for nostalgic old heads.

That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse more skate books and magazines and buy now from CSC. Or, find out more about the latest skate product on the CSC Blog. Safe.
