Building on the success of their debut 1PM and 1:30PM models (plus the recently released 1PM Mid), Village PM are already set to add a brand new model to their lineup in their coming Autumn/Winter collection. We've long been hyped on what Village PM are doing and we're even bigger fans after testing out their shoes for ourselves, so the promise of an all-new model is pretty exciting to say the least! While the shoe isn't set to release until later this year, we've been teased with some images of the shoe after they unveiled it at Paris Fashion Week so we thought we'd try to bring together what we know about the shoe ahead of its release. Have a read below to find out everything there currently is to know about the upcoming Village PM 2PM skate shoe!

Although it sticks with their established naming convention, the Village PM 2PM marks a major departure from their previous models with an all-new shape and overall aesthetic which looks more like a high fashion sneaker than a climbing (or skate) shoe. Village PM skate shoes have always been fairly divisive when it comes to their appearance, mainly because they don't look anything like your average skate shoe, and the 2PM is no different, but we're pretty into the sportier, more high-tech look. Don't worry though, while they might not look the same the Village PM 2PM is still set to feature their innovative climbing rubber construction and Rubber Glove Technology for that same top-tier performance, it just seems like they're taking it in a slightly different direction this time.

Of course these aesthetic changes aren't the only differences as they obviously come as a result of some pretty big changes to the actual construction of the shoe. From the pictures we've seen the Village PM 2PM appears to feature a slightly bulkier design than its predecessors (although they're still far from bulky) with noticeably more padding around the ankle than the relatively minimalist construction of the 1PM and 1:30PM. This will most likely translate to added comfort, more support, and perhaps a snugger fit than the 1PM, which I found to come up quite large. Alongside the extra padding, the Village PM 2PM also appears to feature a beefed-up heel cup, with a thicker layer of rubber and a raised collar for even more support and stability, as well as a redesigned toe-box which keeps their signature asymmetric shape while opting for a more angular squared toe compared to the more rounded design of the 1PM and 1:30PM.

Likewise, it looks like the 2PM also features a much smaller climbing rubber rand (or toe-cap) than their previous models. While the 1PM featured a fair amount of rubber around the toe, which gave them their distinctive climbing shoe look, as well as a raised ollie patch, the 2PM's rand is (for the most part) more reminiscent of standard foxing tape, with a fairly even layer around the forefoot that does still appear to wrap over the top of the toe a bit more than usual for some extra protection. If you're not a fan of having too much rubber on the toe then the Village PM 2PM will likely be more up your street than their previous models, while still offering up better durability and flick than your standard skate shoe thanks to their groundbreaking climbing rubber formula.

The key phrase there is 'for the most part' as of course Village PM haven't kept things that simple. While the toe-cap might not be as pronounced as on the 1PM, the 2PM instead features a layer of rubber which runs from the midsole up and over the toe of the shoe in a two-point prong, completely covering the lace eyelets to help prevent wear, while also contributing to that futuristic aesthetic. What's more, the 2PM also appears to have a slightly shorter lacing system which doesn't run down as close to the toe, further keeping them out of harm's way. We're pretty excited about these new features as damage to the laces was one of the main issues we experienced when skating the 1PM, with the laces very quickly ending up destroyed which basically undermined their whole extended lacing system, so the fact that they've taken steps to address this is a big green flag.

So far, we've been shown four colourways which will, presumably, be available on launch. There's the iconic White and Black colourway with pops of Lime Green which is without a doubt the most distinctive offering, as well as Dark Grey and Black, Maroon and Black and a stylish Red and Black, all of which feature what looks like a synthetic leather upper, with added perforations for breathability, as well as a new Village PM branded tread pattern for a premium finishing touch. Sadly, that's about all we know about the shoe for now but we'll be keeping this post updated with any new information as soon as it becomes available so make sure to check back here to find out more! Otherwise, be sure to check out our full range of Village PM skate shoes to keep you sorted in the meantime.
