Top 5 Skate Meme Pages
While social media for the most part is a festering cess pool of self-indulgent narcissism, illegal tricks, and migraine-inducing slow-mo trap edits, there is one good thing to come out of it and that's skate-oriented meme pages.
We run through our Top 5 Skate Meme Pages, and we've even thrown in some special 'Dishonourable Mentions' for some of the more heinous accounts. And yes, I really do get paid to write this shit.
@carharttfinalboss
One of the new kids on the block, carharttfinalboss has taken the Instagram skate meme world by storm since he started posting in late 2021. While many of the other meme pages have styled themselves around allegiances to particular brands of trucks or shoes, carharttfinalboss instead started out by placing emphasis on the highly divisive world of trousers. While his early work drew on frequent objects of ridicule like the Berrics and Cariuma, he has since found his niche producing distinctively British skate memes, which combine topics like Palace and South Bank with British institutions like 'People Just Do Nothing', 'The Office (UK)', and ketamine, leading to Palace themselves reposting his content.
@chrisdobstar
Niche British skateboard references and 'Peep Show' may seem like an unlikely combination but a quick scroll through chrisdobstar's page will soon convince you that the pair belong together, like the El Dude brothers, or repulsive Instagram skaters and Cariuma. As well as frequently satirising some of the worst offenders in UK skateboarding - like Blondie, Hop King, and Alex Decunha - chrisdobstar doesn't pull any punches when it comes to addressing controversial gossip in the skate scene like the frequent courting of Nazi imagery by certain truck brands, or Jarne Verbruggen being outed as a nonce. This is without a doubt my favourite page on the entire internet and pretty much every single post is guaranteed to bring a smile to my face no matter how many times I've seen it before, which is basically the same for 'Peep Show'. We can only pray that he gets back to posting again at some point. Chance would be a fine thing.
@_open.sesamemes_
Another meme page that leans towards the esoteric, @_open.sesamemes_ is a true OG of the skate meme game, and was probably one of the first I came across that truly made me chuckle. With content that ranges from contemporary topics to old school nostalgia, the page is guaranteed to have something for everyone and you can probably even learn a bit of history in some strange way.
@epiclytaylerd
While @epiclytaylerd - AKA Picture Show Studios pro, Taylor Nawrocki - isn't a dedicated meme page, his Instagram story offers a steady supply of some of the most bizarre videos from the darkest corners of the internet. Ranging from the truly absurd to wholesome animal videos, Taylor's story is top-shelf toilet viewing that's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face while you deal with the consequences of last night's curry. He's even been shadow-banned so you know he must be getting the good shit.
@wolfsk8djmc1978
It just wouldn't be right if we made a list of our favourite meme pages and we didn't mention the legend that is Tony Wolf. Being Wolfed is a right of passage in the UK skate scene - even Dane Burman has had the honour of being Wolfed, although he didn't seem to react very well to it - and there's no feeling quite like waking up in the morning with a skull-splitting hangover and seeing that the Wolf has tagged you in a picture on Instagram. #youvebeenwolfed.
Dishonourable Mentions
@pissskate
While, thankfully, most skate meme pages avoid mindless controversy and political dog whistles under the guise of ‘political incorrectness’, pissskate gorges themselves on the piss-covered low-hanging fruit that are spurned by other pages. With a penchant for needlessly edgy racist, transphobic, and misogynistic jokes, which fail to provide any semblance of humour, let alone contributing to any meaningful discourse, pissskate is clearly operating with the same limited mental faculties as intellectual powerhouses like Daan Van Der Linden.
@asphaltposerclub
The irony that a page dedicated to mocking 'posers' is almost certainly run by a 'poser' is probably not lost on most people. This is peak boomer humour and certified cringe.
That's enough chit-chat though. Make sure you argue with us in the comments and tell us why we're wrong, and check out more of our Top 5's on the blog. Safe.
