The Week Today, Now - 23/01/2023

Bringing you the latest and greatest skateboard news from the last week, including new Tiago footy, more Dick Rizzo-based nerdiness and a Canadian triple threat.

Bill Strobeck's new board company, Violet, are back with another edgy new video, this time featuring a bangin' Efron Danzig part alongside clips from the rest of the gang, including Patrick O'Mara, Seven Strong and Troy Gipson, as well as a particularly impressive guest trick from Strobeck's mum.

Big fan of Matisse Banc's skating but I would've thought society has transcended the need for a full-on Pissdrunx brand by now, especially when they have to have a 'Drink Responsibly' disclaimer in their bio. Straight-up shameless behaviour adding in an extra 6 minutes of absolutely nothing at the end of the video too (presumably for YouTube monetisation reasons). Very postmodern.

The big man's back with another belter of a part - this time for Alex Carolino and Flo Marfaing's griptape venture, Souljah - and of course it's filled with all the big poppin', picnic table hoppin', 90s-inspired goodness you expect from Brazil's reigning King. All hail Tiago.

It's simple really: you see Victor Campillo, you press play. Haze Wheels' new Portugal trip video, 'PORTUG'HAZE', delivers the goods with a strong selection of France's finest including Fred Plocque-Santos and Victor Campillo, but whoever the geezer in the vest is managed to steal the show (anyone got an ID?). Nice to see Victor skating New Balance's now too, their team just keeps getting better and better.

Treat your eyeholes to Canadian-based, VX niceness in Erik Fisher's 'HELLHOLE' packed with loads of new-gen talent like Zander Mitchell, Leon Chapdelaine, Conor Neeson and more. Zander Mitchell is definitely a name you should get to know.

More skate nerdery courtesy of Farran Golding this week with Dick Rizzo talking us through his song and spot selection from his 'Grand Prairie' part in 'Urban Huck'.

Celebrating the end of his incarceration in a Singaporean prison, Matthew Swift has uploaded a hefty remix of Jed Coldwell footage featuring loads of hammers from the Ganj Wax gaffer from over the years.

'Jump Shot' is the latest offering from Montreal's Studio Skateboards, featuring a strong selection of Canadian legends - including Jordan Quiejo, Bryan Wherry and Brett Weinstein - and one of the most obscenely coned spliffs you'll ever see.

Follow Bear Myles as he wiggles his way round the Deaner in the latest instalment of Place's 'Eat Your Veggies'. It doesn't get much better than Bear at the Deaner.

Witness the Crailtap crew getting busy at the Manderson Ranch in the latest episode of 'Weakdays'. Rick McCrank has aged like a fine wine.

Extremely satisfying manoeuvres from the Dutch magician, Rob Maatman, in his new clip for Mob Grip, complimented beautifully by the masterful filming of JM Sneep.

Yet another Canadian banger, 'Everything's Fine' is a very enjoyable new video out of Halifax, Nova Scotia filled with strong homie vibes and some absolutely heinous looking spots.

RIP Jed Walters. While you may not be familiar with the name, Jed's part in 'Love Child' was well ahead of its time and his somewhat tragic interview via Muckmouth is well worth a read.

That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to buy the latest skateboard decks, clothing, shoes and more from CSC. Or, check out more of the latest news, videos, and product reviews on the CSC Blog. Safe.
