Product Spotlight - Hockey Summer '22
Everyone's favourite edgelords are back with one of their best drops we've seen in a while, complete with gratuitous violence and, of course, hockey masks.
Can you put a price on looking cool? Probably not, but when you put it that way £85 for a Hockey deck is pretty reasonable. It's no secret that Hockey are one of the dopest brands in the game right now - but what else would you expect from Alien Workshop alumni, Jason Dill and Anthony Van Engelen? Boasting incredible graphics and one of the most stacked teams of this generation - with certified legends like Andrew Allen, Kevin Rodrigues, and Nik Stain - it's clear that Hockey really are the guys to beat right now.
The Hockey 'Baseball' deck features an illustration of a peaceful baseball game ending in tragedy, with a group of children running from a man holding a bat and another kid lying bleeding on the floor. Lovely stuff. The black illustration contrasts nicely with the neon yellow background, along with a red logo and red blood for some additional highlighting. This deck's a certified home run, as long as you aren't too squeamish.
One of our favourites from the drop, Hockey's 'Andrew Allen Lightpole' deck features a graphic that looks like something straight out of GTA. The design features a blue gradient background overlaid with a sequence of photos capturing a car driving into a lamp post and sending it flying into the air. Embellished with symbols reminiscent of the Japanese shinto emblem for some additional culture alongside a distorted Hockey logo, this deck is easily one of the best-looking Hockey decks we've seen in a while.
Hockey seem to have taken inspiration from their sister company, Fucking Awesome, for Kevin Rodrigues' latest pro model. The 'Kevin In Major' deck features an image of a young Kevin Rodrigues - like the classic FA school photo decks - with images of chandeliers and falling piano keys on top (hence the name 'Kevin in Major'). It's also dipped in a full black colourway for those classic spooky Hockey vibes. It would probably go well with your black wheels you big goth.
Last but not least, Caleb Barnett has one of the most unique decks from the collection. The 'Caleb Barnett CBS' deck features a holographic print with a central graphic depicting two guys behind a fence, one of them wearing a Jason Voorhees style Hockey mask, with an old school CBS News banner and Hockey logo. Surrounding the central image, the board features a reflective, holographic print that resembles light reflecting off of rippling water. Definitely not your average Hockey graphic, especially considering there's not a massive logo anywhere.
As usual, the drop also features some bangin' tees with the same graphics as the decks - with the exception of Caleb Barnett's 'CBS' deck (not really sure how they'd make a holographic tee but I wouldn't put it past them). The 'Baseball', 'Lightpole', and 'Kevin In Major' graphics are all available as tees in a range of colours so you can coordinate with your deck like a real G.
On top of all this, Hockey have come through with some bangin' new caps to keep you covered all summer long. The Hockey 'Shame' graphic makes a comeback in this drop with an all-new cap. The 'Shame' cap features an unstructured 6-panel construction with a curved peak for those beloved dad hat vibes, with the addition of a strapback closure for the optimal fit. With an embroidery of the 'Shame' graphic above a Hockey logo on the front of the cap and two bangin' colourways on offer, this is one of the best hats we've seen from Hockey in a while.
Alongside the 'Shame' cap, Hockey have come through with an all-new model that's perfect for the summertime festival season. The Hockey 'Crinkle' Bell Bucket Hat comes in a classic black colourway with a 3M reflective Hockey 'Crinkle' logo for a nice bit of flair. Perfect for raving. It might not be what you'd usually expect from the Hockey squad, but whenever it comes to Hockey you're always better off expecting the unexpected.
That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse the full range of Hockey skateboard decks and clothing, and buy now from CSC. Or, find out more about the latest product on the CSC Blog. Safe.
