Product Spotlight - Closer Volume 1

Another premium offering for the big brain skate consumer, Closer is the latest skate mag to hit our shelves and it's safe to say it's a coffee table essential.

Founded by Jaime Owens, formerly of Transworld Skateboarding and Skateboarder Magazine, Closer Skateboarding Magazine is all-new, independent skate magazine for 2022 with a distinct focus on the nerdier side of skate culture. If you're looking for something with a bit more thought behind it than the standard beer-soaked, hellride-infused interviews typical of most mags, then Closer's going to be a welcome breath of fresh air.

Closer Skateboarding Magazine Volume 1 Mike Gigliotti interview - CSC, Cardiff Skateboard Club - UK Skate Store

The first issue of Closer Skateboarding Magazine features written contributions from a variety of legends including Ted Barrow, Eric 'Chrome Ball' Swisher, Farran Golding, and more. This includes interviews with countless big names from throughout skateboarding, like Mike Gigliotti shedding light on the closure of Lotties Skate Shop, Louie Lopez talking about his Days of Grace part, Jason Adams on sobriety, legendary photographer J. Grant Brittain taking a look through his archives, and Clyde Singleton taking us through his first skateboard, sponsor, and more. You'll also be happy to know that Clyde will have his own dedicated column focusing on different topics of skate nerdery in the next issues. The mag covers topics from the ancient past of skateboarding all the way up to the present day, so if you're interested in your skate history, Closer is guaranteed to scratch that archival itch.
