Go Skate Day 2026 | Save The Date

Find out everything you need to know about our Go Skate Day 2026 celebrations as we bid a very fond, and potentially tearful, farewell to our beloved Bute Square.

Join us from 2PM this Sunday 21st June at Bute Square as we celebrate the glorious act of wood-pushing for Go Skateboarding Day 2026 while also wishing a very fond farewell to the beloved centre of our universe: Bute Square. Ok we know we said all this last year (and probably the year before) but this time it is actually going to be the last ever time that we can put on an event at Bute Square as we've always known it, with the construction work that we've all long been dreading set to start any day now.

A little background context in case, by some miracle, you haven't already heard us lamenting Bute's coming destruction: it's been in the pipeline for several years now for Callaghan Square (or Bute Square to us) to be redeveloped as part of the Cardiff Crossrail project, which will see our beloved home-away-from-home turned into a tram station, and sadly this time is now upon us. Obviously we're pretty gutted about this and while we have been chatting to the Council, begging them to consider skating in the new design, we're still pretty unsure what that may look like (if it does even come to fruition) and we're definitely gonna miss those iconic red bricks.

Luckily though, it seems like we've been given one last chance to give Bute Square the send-off it deserves with Go Skate Day landing just as the work is meant to start. Of course, we want to celebrate Bute in the best way possible so we'll obviously be bringing down ramps and other fun things for you to enjoy, but we're also enlisting the help of some of the homies, because that's what it's always been about at the end of the day. On the mic, we've got three-time CSC SOTY runner-up, Sir Hemmy Baldock, while manning the tongs we've got serial griller Oscar Sheppard who'll be cooking up a storm. Oh, and there'll be prizes and all that gubbins too in case having a laugh and skating with your mates isn't enough for the miserable materialists among you.

Touch wood but the weather's looking ok at the moment so fingers crossed that that holds. Bring your mates, bring some cans, bring your demo-ending hammers and maybe even bring some suncream if you're feeling optimistic, otherwise that's basically all you need to worry about. Sunday 21st June. 2PM kickoff. Bute Square (Callaghan Square if you don't know where it is and need to find directions). We'll see you there!

That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to buy the latest clothing and skateboard decks from CSC. Or, find out more about the latest Cardiff skateboard events on the CSC Blog. Safe.
