Cardiff Skatepark Plans - Llanrumney Skatepark Coming Soon!

Hot off the successful unveiling of Splott's new Maltings Skatepark, we've got even more good news for you: the new Llanrumney skatepark is officially happening!

After months of planning, including several surveys and design meetings, the new Llanrumney skatepark has finally been given the go ahead by Cardiff Council with construction set to start in 2024. This proposed 'destination' skatepark is set to replace the existing park near the Eastern Leisure Centre, and it's safe to say it's gonna be given a serious facelift. The new Llanrumney skatepark will feature a wide variety of obstacles and features, including a nice mixture of ledges, rails and gaps for the street heads as well as some lovely flowy transition if you'd rather just cruise - and don't worry, there's plenty of seating and even some flatground for warming up too.

This brand-spanking-new concrete park has been lovingly designed by Canadian landscape architects, Van Der Zalm and Associates, and top US skatepark designers, Newline Skateparks, who have run numerous consultations with local skaters and communities to make sure everyone's needs are met. Having spoken with these guys a lot ourselves over the last year or so, we can safely say that these guys know what they're doing and the Llanrumney skatepark is set to get a serious upgrade - not that the bar was set that high to begin with, mind.

Not gonna lie, there have been moments when we doubted whether this park was actually gonna happen after issues with planning, a fair bit of radio silence and some less than reassuring news about Cardiff Council's budget, but now the planning permission has finally gone through we can't wait to have another new park to enjoy - especially considering how bangin' the new Splott skatepark is.

That's enough chit-chat though. Head to the shop to browse the latest skateboard decks, clothing, shoes and more, and buy now from CSC. Or, find out more news about the Cardiff skatepark plans on the CSC BlogSafe.
