CSC Go Skate Day comp winner!

Posted in General skateboarding with tags , , , , , on July 25, 2011 by Jim O

James Davies, proud winner
As the only person who sent in an edit of Go Skate Day, James Davies romped home to victory and picked up a new deck and wheels from City Surf on Saturday.

New Cardiff brand Bakery also sent a fat stack of stickers for him…big thanks to them! Good to see more people in Cardiff doing stuff. Check out Bakery here.

Go Skate Day winner – James Davies

Ok so we only got one edit from Go Skate Day, but this one would have been the best anyway, I’m sure.

James, as the lucky winner you win…well actually I don’t know what you win yet. Any generous sponsors out there want to donate a prize? Anyway, James I’ll get in touch and hook you up with something I promise!

We’ve had one sick wap wap yes blad edit of the day already from James Davies…which has been passed on to our celebrity judging panel for consideration. If you have any more edits, mail the links to jim@cardiffskateboardclub.com by Friday.

We’ll post everything we get on the site at the weekend, so even if you just want to send something stupid in…DO IT. I mean, if I was judging I think this would probably win:

Korahn Gayle

The latest in a series of retrospective pro edits from Crayon, this clip is chock full of bone crunching ollies and mad tech wizardry from Korahn. Korahn’s deck is available to buy now, don’t forget! Every time you buy one you put a few pence in his pocket…what a lovely feeling that must be.

Gone skateboarding day is over

Posted in General skateboarding with tags , , , , , , on June 27, 2011 by Jim O

A pretty chilled out Go Skate Day this year…think we’ll have to bring the megaphone back for next year. The treasure hunt was crazy, a race through town to find people wearing clue t-shirts printed with QR codes that took you to secret messages from Pirate Man. Thankfully, it all worked out and Pirate Man was brought safely back from Boxman’s clutches. He would like to say a big thanks to everyone who helped find him and thanks to City Surf and Ten Feet Tall/Buffalo for the support.

If you didn’t make it down yesterday, see how you would have done by checking the clues below. Would you have found Pirate Man?

Clue 1

Clue 2

Clue 3

Clue 4

The winners

Conor, Isaac and Matt were the first to find Boxman, with Katchi being just behind them. Sean Barnes managed to manual the entire length of Boxman’s rope to knock him off Pirate Man’s treasure chest and free the Pirate! He won first pick from the chest and got himself a set of wheels!

Chris Wilson won himself a deck at the Sports Cafe 8 set. His nollie heel held off Katchi who couldn’t quite land his laser flip. Jack ‘Boneless kid’ Isaac landed on a few 360 bonelesses but didn’t quite roll away. Maybe next year Jack!

Everybody then headed to the plaza for a long session in the sunshine.

Some big stars showed up this year again.

Boxman was back to his old self in the end. Just chilling in the sun with a Red Bull.

Though he didn’t have a great skate.

Official Go Skate Day afterparty @ Buffalo

Posted in General skateboarding with tags , , , , , , , on June 23, 2011 by Jim O

Lots of stuff happening at Buffalo to celebrate finding Pirate Man and bringing him back alive (we hope). If you’re not attending Go Skate Day and are going to see Battles instead…this is the perfect after party for you too!

Crayon skateboards pro edit Cardiff premiere!
    Josh Underwood (DJ set)
    Kevin Barry (DJ set)
    CSC I-pod mashup!
Premiere of ‘Welcome to MIA’ on the big screen.
(A film by Josh Stewart feat Ed Selego, Forrest Kirby, Joel Meinholz, Danny Fuenzalida and more….)

Drinks offers:

    £2.50 Stella 4%
£2 shot of tequila or sambucca
    £2 vodka / gin / whiskey & mixer
    £1.80 small house wine
    £2 bottle of Bud 66.

Everything kicks off at 8pm and it goes on to 3am…so plenty of time to develop a MONSTER hangover for Monday morning. You have to look 18+ to get in obviously.

Big Little City

Also…make sure you get down to the Big Little City exhibition. Godmachine and CSC artist in residence Phil Morgan have painted some walls in their unique styles. Both illustrations are awesome so pop into the Old Library in town and check ‘em out. Lots of other awesome stuff in there too, and there’s a massive lift which is good for pretending you’re an illegal immigrant being smuggled into the country in the back of a lorry.

Skateboarding NBDs right here in Cardiff

Posted in Cardiff skateboarding videos with tags , , , , , , , on April 8, 2011 by Jim O

You know, if you’re anything like me, you’re getting slightly tired of watching plaza footage. I’m not tired of skating there, and I’m not tired of seeing new stuff…but I start to crave something fresh once in a while. It’s been almost a year now, and in that time I’ve seen about eleventy milllion clips and edits with the now famous red ledges in the background. With that in mind, I was watching the ridiculous new Steve King footage from Drew and thinking…man, CSC has become Cardiff Plaza Club, but this is just so good it has to go on the website…but just as I was about to post it up the sky turned purple, the clouds parted, and Webb ascended from the heavens riding a golden scooter down a ray of sunlight…he handed me a wooden box which contained a single shrivelled bean.

“Plant the bean” Webb whispered into my ear, and I did…and when I woke up this morning the bean had grown into a giant beanstalk, and when I climbed the giant beanstalk, and popped my head through the leafy canopy on high I saw this…

Prepare your auditory, visual and extra-sensory powers of perception for the most CSC-worthy video clip EVER…

Adidas now in stock at City Surf

Posted in Cardiff skateboarding videos with tags , , , , on February 22, 2011 by Jim O

They’ve just taken delivery of 3 styles of Adidas shoes and a load of Gonz designed clothing. Adidas stuff is great quality and I guess if you’re going to have Nike on sale in skate shops, it’s only right and proper that Adidas are in there as well. Personally I prefer Adidas…but City Surf also stock Nike and plenty of legit skate brands so you’re spoilt for choice.

Bit late on this footage as everyone’s probably seen it by now, but if you haven’t check out this nice Cardiff and London edit from Jim Craven featuring Ben Rowles, Alex Bird and Will Miles and your Cardiff Bay favourites, Caradog Emanuel, Dylan Hughes, Rhys Meek and Jess Young.

CSC tee for anyone who can include the Scottish and N.Ireland capital cities in their next edit!
