Keeping Cardiff on the UK skateboarding map, Crayon won Best graphic of 2010 for their Super Furry Animals/Pete Fowler collaboration, and CSC won best scene video with ‘Join us’. Crayon also got a mention for their sick Barber ad produced by the legendary Nick ‘the bastard’ Richards.
Mike was worried that his day with Dykey was going to be a real let down…but as is so often the way with Golden Ticket winners, everything turned out rosy.
The constant drizzle and darkness might be depressing to some, but to me it’s as welcome as 30 degree sunshine because all that footage from the sunny Summer days spent in Cardiff Bay is finally seeing the light of day.
Drew sent this new trailer for his vid which is gonna include full length sections from Sam Bowring and Steve King. YES I SAID STEVE KING.
Other news
In other news, check out Boggin Zine for an interview with friend of CSC and all round good egg Jerome Loughran. There’s also a James ‘Crayon’ Coyle interview in there.
And also check out this illustration from the creator of CSC’s Boxman graphics that made it onto the front page of the Washington Post Express in the USA…the home of skateboarding. Eric Koston probably saw this.
When I look back on my life I’ll probably die happy in the knowledge that, although it wasn’t perfect, at least I didn’t spend Summer 2010 following Dykey’s OAP-mobile round in circles past the same roadsigns and landmarks for 5 consecutive rain-soaked days. Korahn, James Coyle, Nick the bastard, Trix, Barber, CJ, Tommy, and special guests Barney and Nicky didn’t get so lucky.
With a sick extras section in ‘Bristol’s finest’ and after three months trekking in Oz, Barber’s returning to the UK to take up a full team spot on Crayon. Expect to see him killing it all over the UK in 2010.
As for those awesome new Crayon decks, you can pick them up online now.
Can’t wait to get mine, these are sick. If you pop into City Surf you can have it gripped by the artist, Phil, and if you’re REEEEEALLY lucky maybe even the superhuman ghost-voiced Willy Wonka of skateboarding DYKEY will be there to sign it for you.
